P. laurocerasus Rotundifolia is a vigorous, large, spreading evergreen shrub with handsome, glossy dark green leaves to 15cm in length. Small white flowers in erect racemes to 12cm in length are followed by cherry-like glossy red fruits soon turning black. Growth rate per year approx. 18 inches to 2 ft. Will tolerate most positions and required moist but well-drained soil. Not suited to waterlogged areas. Feed throughout the growing season to keep the rich green colour. Trim late spring/early summer and again in late autumn to keep a nice, neat hedge. If planting a hedge then plant at 2 plants per linear metre in a single row.
