Osmanthus can be evergreen shrubs or small trees with leathery, opposite leaves and small, usually fragrant, tubular white, yellow or orange flowers with 4 lobes, followed by ovoid blue-black fruits. ‘Goshiki’ is a slow-growing and compact evergreen shrub, with holly-like, coarsely spined oval leaves marbled with cream and often tinged pink or bronze when young, and clusters of small fragrant white flowers in the leaf axils in late summer or autumn. Tolerates full sun or partial shade and well-drained soils. Ultimate height 100-150cm.
