Echinacea are erect, clump-forming rhizomatous perennials with simple or pinnately lobed leaves and solitary, long-stalked daisies with prominent conical central disks and often drooping ray florets; attractive to butterflies. ‘Magnus’ is a perennial with narrowly oval leaves and flowerheads to 10cm wide, with drooping deep pink rays and an orange-brown central cone. Best in a sunny position and well-drained soil. Mulch with a dry mulch over winter to protect the crown. Ultimate height 50-100cm.
